About the event
Attend a colonial-era tea in Durand-Hedden’s eighteenth century kitchen, see an authentic Chinese tea demonstration, enjoy children’s activities, and view an exhibit on the history of tea from China to eighteenth-century New Jersey – all at Durand-Hedden’s next open house on May 19 from 1 pm to 4 pm: All the Tea: From China to New Jersey.
Step back in time as Eliza Vincz-Lichack recreates a colonial-era afternoon tea in Durand-Hedden's eighteenth-century kitchen. This historical reenactment will use an antique eighteenth-century tea set, punch bowl, and more. Learn why tea was such a hot commodity, spill the tea, and swap biscuit and sweets recipes as you enjoy this engaging demonstration.
Xiuqin "Qin" Zhai will lead visitors in a Chinese tea demonstration and tasting. This unique event will honor Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. She will be assisted by Susan Li.
The day's events will also include children's activities and an exhibit on the history of tea from China to eighteenth-century New Jersey.
